New Delhi: All-rounder Moeen Ali, playing for CSK in IPL 2021, has decided to retire from Test cricket. He will no longer be seen in red-ball cricket for England. He's going to formally announce it soon. Moeen has recently informed England Test captain Joe Root, coach Chris Silverwood and selectors about his decision. Moeen has taken this step with the intention of focusing on limited over cricket. Moeen, 34, has played 64 Tests for England.

According to media reports, Moeen is one of the probable members of the England team who will play the T20 World Cup and Ashes series in the coming month. In that case, he had to stay away from home for a long time. For this reason, he decided to retire from the long format of cricket. However, he is keen to play for England in limited-overs cricket and wants to continue playing franchise cricket in addition to the county. He has not yet taken a decision on whether he will continue to play first-class cricket or not.

Moeen has had a great career as a Test cricketer for England. He scored 2000 Test runs and 100 wickets in fewer matches than England's legendary all-rounders Ian Botham, Imran Khan and Gary Sobers. He has 195 wickets in 64 Tests and remains ranked 16th in the list of highest wicket-takers for England. He has also been the third-best all-rounder in the world in his Test career. Not only that, his performance with the ball as well as the bat has been amazing. His 5 centuries in Test cricket have also been proof of this. He has so far taken 195 wickets with 2914 runs in 64 Tests. He has also scored 14 fifties in Tests. He has taken 10 wickets 1 0 times and 5 times 5 wickets in Tests.
