CUET-UG Exam: Candidates Report Errors in Answer Keys

Several candidates who took the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG on Monday have claimed that the answer keys released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) contain errors. These concerns arose just a day after the NTA published the answer keys.

Retest and Answer Key Challenges

The NTA has announced that it will conduct a retest for CUET-UG candidates from July 15 to 19 if any grievances regarding the exam are found to be valid. Candidates can challenge the answer keys online until 5 pm on July 9 by paying a fee of Rs 200 per answer.

Although NTA officials did not comment on the grievances, candidates have reported issues such as lost time at some exam centers and technical problems. "Challenges made by the candidates will be verified by a panel of subject experts. Based on the revised final answer key, the result will be declared," stated a senior NTA official.

Examination Issues

The delay in CUET-UG results comes amid ongoing controversies over alleged irregularities in other competitive exams, including NEET and NET. The CUET-UG exam, conducted in a hybrid mode for the first time across the country, was canceled in Delhi the night before the exam due to logistical reasons. The exam was later held in the national capital.

Previously, the NTA announced that the third edition of CUET-UG would be completed in seven days and that scores would not be normalized since all exams would be conducted in a single shift.

This year, over 13.4 lakh candidates registered for the CUET-UG, aiming for admission to undergraduate courses in 261 central, state, deemed, and private universities. The first edition of the exam in 2022 was affected by technical issues, and due to multiple shifts for some subjects, scores had to be normalized when results were announced.
