The Central Universities Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) for more than 11,000 candidates, who were scheduled to appear in the 4th phase, has been postponed to August 30 to accommodate their respective choice of city for examination centre, officials said Saturday.

The 4th phase of the CUET-UG  was scheduled from August 17-20 and a total of 3.72 lakh candidates were set to appear.

The National testing Agency (NTA), which is conducting the exam, had announced earlier all phases of the examination will conclude on August 28.

“The examination for more than 11,000 candiates out of 3.72 lakh candidates has been deferred to August 30, so as to  accommodate their choice of city for exam centre.

In addition to making steps to ensure that the centres' quality is improved, NTA has raised the capacity at centres and introduced more exam centres, said the UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar.

To ensure a smooth examination process, it has also been agreed to station additional technical staff by assigning Associate Professor level personnel to serve as technical observers at each centre.

Exams at several centres had to be cancelled as a result of problems with the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) second round. Last Monday, Kumar said that numerous centres had cancelled the exam due to "sabotage" indications and reports.
