KOLKATA: The newly-appointed Governor of West Bengal, C V Ananda Bose,  reached Kolkata on Tuesday and his oath-taking ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 23.

C V Ananda Bose was welcomed by Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim, the state's minister of municipal affairs and urban development, and chief secretary H.K. Dwivedi upon his arrival at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport at roughly 9.30 a.m.

Mr Vineet Kumar Goyal, the Kolkata Police Commissioner,  was also present. Chief Justice Prakash Srivastava of the Calcutta High Court will deliver the oath to Bose.

On November 17, Rashtrapati Bhavan declared his appointment.

Since then, the new governor has made it plain during encounters with the media that his dealings with the West Bengal administration and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be more "administrative" than "political."

However, a part of the Trinamool Congress leaders have expressed displeasure of Bose's appointment without consulting the state government or the Chief Minister.

Meantime, leader of the opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari also extended a hearty welcome to Bose. "He said, "We have great hopes in him because we have heard about his superb working style as a former bureaucrat.

With rumours of numerous clashes between the two institutions throughout Jagdeep Dhankhar's tenure as governor, all eyes will now be on the Governor House-state secretariat tensions in the days to come.

The conflict got so bad at one point that the Chief Minister even barred Dhankhar from using Twitter.

After his exit, the short tenure of La Ganesan was marked by a congenial relationship between the Governor and Chief Minister.

Ganesan attended the Kali Puja celebration at Banerjee's house in South Kolkata this year, while the Chief Minister embarked Chennai to attend the former Governor's brother's 80th birthday celebrations.
