'Cyclone Gulab' rising as a 'disaster' towards Bengal, 'Alert' of devastation in Odisha-Andhra

New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued cyclone alerts in some parts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. According to the MET department, a low-pressure area is forming over the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to intensify the cyclonic storm in the next 12 hours. Meanwhile, heavy rain has been predicted in many parts of West Bengal due to the cyclone.

This cyclone has been named Cyclone Gulab. According to the MET department, the cyclonic storm is may remain active for two days on Saturday and Sunday. It is estimated to weaken on Monday. According to the MET department, depression has increased in the north and surrounding Bay of Bengal to deep depression. Which is expected to intensify into a cyclone in the next 12 hours. It is staked out to cross the coasts of south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh around Kalingapatnam by September 26, with the MET department issuing yellow alerts in coastal areas of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha.

Heavy rain is also expected in Bengal due to cyclone Gulab. Heavy rain is likely to occur in East Midnapore along with Kolkata Howrah, South and North 24 Parganas from Tuesday. Kolkata Police has opened a control room called Unified Command Centre to deal with the storm. All police stations have been asked to remain alert. Preparations have also begun to deal with the storm in coastal areas.
