Team Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara has recalled a story of the 2002 Champions Trophy. When Sourav Ganguly, the captain of Team India, entered his dressing room. That year, two final matches of the Champions Trophy were canceled due to rain, and India and Sri Lanka were declared joint winners.

Sangakkara said on the Star Sports show, "I remember the story of an ODI match where he had a fight with Russell Arnold. I think Dada was on his final warning and the umpire reported him." After which he said, "Dada came to our dressing room and talked to us and said that if this goes the whole distance, he was going to get suspended. We said don't worry were not going to make a big deal about it and he was going to be okay. "

Arnold was constantly running through the pitch in this match and Ganguly was repeatedly reminding him not to do so whose umpire had to interfere.
