A great freedom struggle fighter was accompanied by India's Grand Old Man's DadaBhai Naoroji, along with being a teacher, businessman, politician and social leader. His patriotism was instrumental in the establishment of the Indian National Congress.

Dada Bhai Naoroji was the first Asian to become a member of the British Parliament and was the first Indian to be appointed as a professor in a college. Today, on the occasion of his death anniversary, we are going to give important information about his life.

Dadabhai Naoroji was born on September 4, 1825, in a Parsi family in Mumbai. His father's name was Navaroji Palanji Dordi. His mother's name was Manekbai. Dada Bhai Naoroji's father died when he was 4 years old. His mother was not very educated. But she wanted to give her son a good education. After his father's death, the family faced many economic problems.

Dada Bhai Naoroji was raised by his mother. At just 11 years of age, he was married to Gulab Bai. Child marriage was a trend in ancient times. Gulab Bai was only seven years old at the time of their marriage. Dadabhai Naoroji and Gulab Bai had 3 children; a son and two daughters.

For your information, Dadabhai was appointed as a professor at the Elphinstone Institute in 1855 at the age of 30. He was the first Indian to become a professor in a college. Dada Bhai Naoroji presented the "Drain Theory" in which he described how the Britishers are exploiting innocent Indians and weakening our country economically. They are not only letting us use our own resources.

As Diwan, in 1874, Maharaja Sayajirao Gaikwad III of Baroda worked with Dadabhai Naoroji's political career. He also opposed the lease renewal of the 1853 East India Company. Dada Bhai believed that it was because of ignorance among the people of India that the Britishers were ruling them. Dada Bhai Naoroji is also known as the man of the establishment of the Indian National Congress.

He along with A.O. Hume and Dinshaw Adulji established the National Congress of India. He discharged the responsibility of a member of the Legislative Council of Mumbai from 1885 to 1888. In 1886, he was appointed President of the Indian National Congress. On June 30, 1917, at the age of 91, India's son Naoroji passed away. He used to write about the exploitation of Indians by the British during the last days of his life as well as to give speeches. We salute him for his dedicated attitude towards the country.
