Kings XI Punjab defeated Sunriser Hyderabad by six wickets in a trilling match. Though Bhuveshwar Kumar led SRH suffered defeat but David Warner managed to achieve an amazing feat in his IPL career. Warner scored 70 runs from 62 deliveries despite batting through the innings against Kings XI Punjab in their first encounter in IPL 2019, lacing six boundaries and a solitary six after going past his 39th IPL fifty. The half-century, scored off 49 deliveries, is Warner's slowest ever in IPL as he surpassed his previous record of 45 deliveries against the same opponent in 2017. With the fifty, Warner became the first batsman in IPL history to have seven consecutive 50-plus knocks against two teams in the tournament.

Warner had seven such scores against Royal Challengers Bangalore as well, between 2014 to 2016. It was also Warner's fourth straight fifty-plus score at the venue in IPL - 70*, 51, 52, 58.

SRH lost Jonny Bairstow for a score of just one after the visitors were put to bat first on the green-covered Mohali track.  But Warner  carved out an uncharacteristic half-century against one of his favourite opponents in Indian Premier League (IPL) as Sunrisers Hyderabad huffed and puffed its way to amass 150 runs at the loss of four wickets in Mohali on Monday. From Punjab side, KL Rahul scored unbeaten 71 and led to team a 6 wicket victory.
