After 36 hours, CCD owner V.G.Siddhartha dead body found in Netravati river

Bengaluru: The body of VG Siddhartha, son-in-law of former External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and owner of Cafe Coffee Day, has been recovered. Siddhartha had been missing since Monday evening. A team of about 200 people was searching for him in the river Netravati near Mengaluru. About 200 people, including policemen, Coast Guard, divers, and fishermen, were engaged in a search operation in the river area where Siddhartha was suspected to have jumped.

South Kannada Deputy Commissioner Shashikanth Senthil said after visiting the site, a corpse was found, which appears to be Cafe Coffee Day owner VG Siddharth. Earlier, 60-year-old Siddhartha's car driver Basavraj Patil had lodged a complaint with a police station in Mengaluru that his boss had gone missing from the bridge where he got out of the car and wanted to walk for a while. According to the case filed by the driver, "Siddhartha got out of the car on the bridge of the Netravati River and went at the other end of the bridge, saying that he wanted to walk a little while, but did not return even after an hour."

Siddhartha was a veteran leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and minister of external affairs in the UPA-2 government (2009-2012). He was the the eldest son-in-law of S.M. Krishna. Mr. Krishna was also the CM of Karnataka between 1999 and 2004.
