Indian cricketer Mohammad Shami’s participation in the Indian Premier League now depends on the decision of anti-corruption unit (ACU) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). BCCI president CK Khanna shared the information with the media on Friday.

The anti-corruption unit of BCCI is currently probing Shami’s involvement in match-fixing as alleged by his wife Hasina Jahan. Jahan told that her husband Shami had taken money from a UK based businessman through a Pakistani woman following which Committee of Administrators (CoA) Vinod Rai had ordered ACU chief Neeraj Kumar of launching a probe into the matter.

“Since ACU chief Neeraj Kumar is investigating and has been given a seven-day time frame, any decision will be taken after he submits his report. The final decision will be taken by the CoA,” said Khanna as quoted by PTI.

Mohammad Shami was bought by the Delhi Daredevils in IPL auction 2018. Shami has been in the headlines after his wife Hasina Jahan accused him of domestic violence and infidelity. Jahan posted several chat screenshots on Facebook to support her allegations.

CK Khanna spoke to media after a board meeting. In the meeting, the finance team of BCCI has finalised Rs. 18 crore to be spent on the opening ceremony of IPL 2018.
