HYDERABAD: The opposition Congress party has called for an unemployment emergency in Telangana, claiming that 40 lakh people are suffering as a result of the state's unemployment situation.

Dasoju Sravan Kumar, spokesperson for the AICC, stated that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao should explore tangible initiatives to address and overcome the unemployment situation.

He also encouraged the Chief Minister to organise a high-level task force comprised of national-level industrialists, academicians, intellectuals, strategists, and policymakers to develop a strategy with specific task policies to address the state's unemployment problem. He recalled that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government in undivided Andhra Pradesh had established such a task team.

The Congress also urged that a statutory Act be introduced to ensure that 95 percent of jobs in the private sector are allocated for locals. He also made numerous other claims, including Rs one crore in ex-gratia for the 70 field assistants who died after being arbitrarily terminated from the service, inflicting great distress, and the release of their full income for two years.
