Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit the Southern Naval Command (SNC) in Kerala's Kochi (Cochin) on October 2, the day of Gandhi Jayanti. Defence Minister will take part in the cleaning activities as part of the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'.
Defence sources said that Singh, who will arrive in Kerala on Friday (October 02), will take stock of various activities of the Indian Navy in the Venduruthy channel and will also interact with the families of defence forces.
After the event at Southern Naval Command, the minister will proceed to Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands, a release of defence ministry said.
Earlier on June 25, Rajnath Singh had arrived on a two-day visit to Kochi Naval Base, the headquarters of Southern Naval Command (SNC). During the visit, he visited INS Vikrant, the indigenous aircraft carrier being built by Cochin Shipyard Ltd, and review the progress of the work. He also visited training establishments of the SNC talked on important ongoing training and operational activities being undertaken by SNC.
