Gangtok: Central Defense Minister Rajnath Singh's visit to Sikkim has been cancelled due to the bad weather. Defense Minister Singh arrived in Darjeeling (West Bengal) on Saturday and was scheduled to visit Sikkim today for a day's visit, but his tour was canceled this morning due to inclement weather. He inaugurated the alternative alignment road 'Gangtok Nathula Road' in the eastern district of Sikkim through a video conference held at the 33rd Corp Army Headquarters at Sukuna in Darjeeling district.

During this one-day visit, the Defense Minister was going to visit the India-China border area and was scheduled to meet with the Indian Army personnel stationed there. Similarly, Union Minister Singh was also scheduled to inaugurate the Thakurbari temple in the capital Gangtok today. Now in his absence, the said temple will be inaugurated by the Governor and Chief Minister of the state. Strong security arrangements were made in the capital Gangtok for the arrival of Defense Minister Singh.

Earlier today, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh reached Darjeeling in West Bengal on the occasion of Dussehra. There he participated in 'Shastra Pooja' near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and then attacked China. Rajnath said clearly that he has full faith in the Indian Army that no one inch of land will be able to be occupied by him. He also said that India wants peace on the border.
