Starting March 6, flights from Dehradun will be connected to three major cities in India - Ayodhya and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, and Amritsar in Punjab. The flights will operate from Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which currently handles domestic flights.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced on March 4 that the Central government has approved the flight operations to these cities from Dehradun.

Chief Minister Dhami expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for approving these services. The CM had been pushing for air services to these destinations for a considerable period, as per his office.

According to the statement released, "Prior to the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, the CM personally requested and wrote a letter to Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia."

On the day of inauguration, a flight is scheduled to depart from Dehradun to Ayodhya at 9:40 am and arrive in Ayodhya at 11:30 am, as per the chief minister's office.

Furthermore, the CMO mentioned, "On the same day, a flight will depart from Ayodhya at 12:15 pm and reach Dehradun at 1:55 pm." Additionally, another flight is set to depart from Amritsar at noon and reach Dehradun at 01:10 pm. Similarly, a flight from Dehradun will depart for Amritsar at 1:35 pm and arrive at 2:45 pm.

The flight schedule provided by the CMO also indicates that a passenger plane will depart from Dehradun for Pantnagar at 9:50 am and arrive at Pantnagar at 10:35 am. Subsequently, a flight will depart from Pantnagar to Varanasi at 11:15 am and land in Varanasi at 1 pm. Moreover, the flight from Varanasi will depart for Pantnagar at 1:40 pm and arrive at Pantnagar at 3:25 pm. Later, a flight will depart from Pantnagar at 3:50 pm and reach Dehradun at 4:35 pm. Notably, the Dehradun-Varanasi flight will operate via Pantnagar.

It's worth mentioning that Ayodhya recently inaugurated its first airport a few months ago, named Maharishi Valmiki International Airport.
