NEW DELHI: Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has announced that the new Terminal 1 (T1) will open to the public on August 17, 2024. This new terminal, part of the Phase 3A expansion project and inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 10, 2024, marks a significant upgrade for the airport.
In preparation for the terminal’s opening, DIAL has coordinated with airlines IndiGo and SpiceJet. Starting August 17, SpiceJet will move 13 of its flights to Terminal 1, while IndiGo will shift 34 flights from Terminals 2 and 3 to T1 beginning September 2.
Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO of DIAL, commented, “We are excited to launch Terminal 1 on August 17, 2024. This state-of-the-art facility will enhance our capacity and reduce the strain on Terminals 2 and 3, offering passengers an improved travel experience with better amenities and technology.”
Terminal 1 has been closed since June 28, with IndiGo and SpiceJet operating from Terminals 2 and 3. Passengers have been receiving updates about flight schedule changes and terminal relocations. Previously, Terminal 1 managed an average of 200 flights daily.
