NEW DELHI: The air quality index remained in the 'poor category' for the second day in a row on Saturday morning with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) at 204, as per the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR). 

Gurugram's air quality remained in the 'bad' category as well, with an AQI of 228. The AQI in Noida was 201, putting it in the bad category. The AQI at IIT Delhi was 197, which was just over the poor level.

Both the Airport region and the Mathura road have an AQI of 215. The Lodhi Road area had an air quality score of 208, while Ayanagar had an index of 166, putting it in the'moderate' category. The air quality in Delhi University and the Dhirpur region was poor, with total AQI readings of 201 and 221 respectively.

Air Quality Indexes ranging from 0 to 100 are regarded good, while those ranging from 100 to 200 are considered moderate, those ranging from 200 to 300 are considered bad, those ranging from 300 to 400 are considered extremely poor, and those ranging from 400 to 500 or higher are deemed severe. Earlier on Friday, Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) fell to the 'poor' category after being in the'moderate' category on Republic Day.

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), conditions are anticipated to worsen to'very poor' in the next days. People with heart or lung problems, older folks, and children should limit prolonged or strenuous effort and outdoor activity, according to a Ministry of Earth Sciences advisory.

To minimise the city's rising pollution, the ministry has encouraged citizens to limit their outside activities early in the morning and after nightfall, and to wear N-95 or P-100 face masks.
