NEW DELHI : The second edition of Delhi Art Week (DAW) will take place from August 24 to 31 in a hybrid avatar, with galleries and institutions showcasing their programming both physically and online on the internationally recognised platform, Artsy.
This week's virtual presence aims to give a feel of the richness of Indian contemporary and modern art accessible in the Capital city to a global audience. Delhi Art Week exhibitions will be virtually available on Artsy till September 14.
The first edition, held from April 3 to 10, 2021, brought together a range of art programmes from 37 participating galleries and four institutions, including two museums, for the first time.
Delhi Art Week 2021 also divided the city into four different "art zones," making it easier to access and navigate the capital's gallery and museum network. DAW's website and Instagram profiles also provided materials for anyone interested in getting involved in Delhi's art scene.
It was conceived as a result of the major changes brought about in the art industry due to the Covid-19 pandemic, one of which was the cancellation of several art fairs and the recognition by many galleries that working collaboratively rather than alone was the call of the times.
