Dubai: Wicketkeeper-batsman and Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has arrived in Dubai for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction. After a road accident near Roorkee on New Year's Eve last year, Pant had been away from cricket and undergoing continuous rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). This marks his return to a significant cricketing event for the first time.

Reports suggest that Pant is not only set to participate in IPL 2024 but will also lead the team. His expected full recovery is projected by the end of February, just in time for the IPL, which is anticipated to commence in the last week of March. In IPL 2023, with Pant unavailable, David Warner took charge of Delhi Capitals, and the team's performance suffered.

The 25-year-old Pant, actively participating in the IPL live auction, was seen at the IPL auction table alongside Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting. He was also involved in the team's planning for the auction, actively participating in discussions with coach Ponting.

Last year, on December 30, Pant was involved in a car accident in the Gurukul Narsan area near Roorkee, where he was driving the car.

In terms of Pant's IPL performance, he has played 98 matches, accumulating 2838 runs. Additionally, Pant has scored 2271 runs in 33 Test matches, 865 runs in 30 ODIs, and 987 runs in 66 T20 International matches.
