New Delhi: Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) suffered a humiliating 91-run defeat against Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 55th match of (IPL 2022). Batting first, CSK scored a huge score of 208 runs with the help of Devon Conway's half-century and then bundled out the entire Delhi team for 117 runs in 17.4 overs.
After the defeat, The Delhi team remains at number 5 with 10 points and now in order to qualify in the playoffs, they will have to win the remaining three matches in every case. DC captain Rishabh Pant said after this crushing defeat that the members of the team are also facing corona and flu. However, Pant also said that they are not taking it as an excuse. Rishabh Pant said after the match, "He has dominated us in every field, now we are looking towards the next three games. If we win, we will qualify for the playoffs. Our team members are also struggling with corona and flu, but we are not using it as an excuse. All we can do is to stay as positive as possible.''
In response to the target of 209 runs from CSK, Delhi's team was at one time 72 for two. But then Moeen Ali gave a big blow to Delhi by dismissing two captains Pant and Ripple Patel in the same over. After this, the team disintegrated like a pack of cards and suffered a humiliating defeat of 91 runs.
