New Delhi: Delhi's Patiala House Court has barred the publishing of the book "The Ginning for the Godman: The True Story of the Asaram Bapu Convention" (Gunning for the Godman: The True Story behind the Asaram Bapu Conviction) written on the self-proclaimed saint Asaram, who is languishing in jail for sexual exploitation.
Additional District Judge Rs Meena has stayed the printing of the book written on Asaram on Friday, giving interim relief to the petitioner accumulated Gupta. The accumulated is co-charged in a case related to Asaram and had approached the court demanding immediate relief against the publication of the book, as a pre-release chapter published on a web portal was a defamation. His appeal is pending before the Rajasthan High Court.
The accumulated Gupta had approached the court in a civil case filed by his lawyer Naman Joshi and Karan Khanja and the case was strongly opposed by lawyer Vijay Agarwal. Lawyer Agarwal had told the court that the book is being published by Harper Collins and is going to be launched both in fijikali and online on September 5, 2020. Thereafter, the court has stayed its publication.
