New Delhi: Delhi's Patiala House Court on Friday turned down the plea of Tihar Jail authorities seeking a new date for hanging the culprits of the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case. With this, the court has made a big comment. The court has said that 'When the law allows the culprits to survive, then hanging them is a sin'.

On this Nirbhaya's mother said that it is very sad that even after so many years I am not getting justice. Justice said that I agree with the plea of the counsel for the convicts that on the basis of mere suspicion and speculation, a warrant to end one's life cannot be issued. This petition is thus dismissed. Whenever necessary, the government is free to make a suitable application.

Apex court said in this case on Friday that it will hear the petition of the Center challenging a decision of the Delhi High Court on 11 February. The High Court had rejected the petition filed by the Center against prohibiting the hanging of four convicts. A bench headed by Justice R Bhanumathi did not accept Solicitor General Tushar Mehta's request that a notice is sent to the four convicts on the plea of the Center.
