NEW DELHI: New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal has lost his re-poll bid from the New Delhi Assembly constituency. Kejriwal has held this seat since 2013, when he defeated Congress Chie and the then Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to herald what would be the AAP's decade-long rule of Delhi.Â
AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi won from the Kalkaji constituency in Delhi, beating the rival and BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri after a tight competition.

As the election results show the BJP gaining ground, it iss still unclear whether AAP’s promise of the "Delhi model" has convinced voters. The campaign was intense, with AAP, BJP, and Congress leaders attacking each other over issues like the “Sheesh Mahal” controversy, the quality of Yamuna’s water, and free schemes. For AAP, this election is crucial, especially since many of its top leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, have faced jail time during their current term.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the BJP is all set to form the government in Delhi after 27 years. Speaking at a press conference in Gwalior, he said, "Under PM Modi's leadership, BJP will win Delhi."
Scindia also criticized the UPA government, calling the rise in Non-Performing Assets (NPA) in banks a "cancer." He pointed out that the BJP government has reduced the NPA from 11.5% in 2014 to 2.6% now. He also mentioned that while the UPA government spent Rs 2 lakh crore on infrastructure, PM Modi's government has increased this amount to Rs 11 lakh crore.
BJP workers celebrated outside the party office as the party looked set to make a comeback in Delhi after 27 years. They danced, sang, and burst crackers to celebrate.

However, AAP leader Manish Sisodia is leading from Jangpura with a 2,438-vote margin.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said the people of Delhi have chosen PM Modi’s governance model and rejected Kejriwal’s. He blamed Kejriwal for problems like contaminated water, bad roads, and pollution.
Sachdeva also criticized AAP leaders like Kejriwal and Atishi, saying they would lose because they betrayed the people.
Polling for the 70-seat Delhi Assembly was held on February 5, with a voter turnout of 60.54%. BJP’s campaign, led by PM Modi, focused on issues like the Yamuna River pollution and Kejriwal’s expensive house renovations.
