UTTAR PRADESH - Milkipur by-Election: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured the Milkipur assembly seat in Ayodhya during the by-polls, marking a victory over the Samajwadi Party. Just 8 months after losing the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat to Samajwadi Party, BJP has bounced back with a clear win, proving that its Hindutva-driven politics remains a formidable strength in U.P.
The BJP has won the Milkipur by-election in Uttar Pradesh, but the Samajwadi Party (SP) is calling it unfair. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav claims the ruling party misused government officials to win. However, he challenged the BJP, saying such tricks would not work in all 403 Assembly seats in the 2027 elections.
The by-election has become necessary because Awadhesh Prasad, the sitting SP MLA, was elected to Parliament, leaving the Milkipur seat vacant. The SP fielded Ajeet Prasad, while the BJP nominated Chandrabhanu Paswan, who won the contest.
After the results, Mr. Yadav posted on social media X, saying the BJP's victory was not genuine. "They may manipulate one seat, but they can’t do this in 403 seats. This win is fake, and the BJP will always fear losing," he said.
He also warned that officials involved in alleged election fraud would face consequences. It is against law. The BJP will use them and then discard them. They will lose their jobs and pensions and suffer alone," he added.
This election was a major battle, with both Akhilesh Yadav and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath campaigning actively. Awadhesh Prasad, who won the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat, also worked hard for SP’s candidate.
After the BJP’s victory, party MP Ravi Kishan took a dig at the SP and Congress, saying, "People didn’t like how Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav treated Awadhesh Prasad like a trophy. Yogi ji has done real work in the area."
