NEW DELHI: The daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), K. Kavitha, made her third appearance before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in New  Delhi on Tuesday, March 21, to answer questions related to the Delhi Excise policy scam.

Upon reaching the ED office, Kavitha showed to media mobile phones which the agency said had been destroyed to wipe out evidence. The ED had accused her of changing 10 cell phones during excise policy matter. It wanted to know and retrieve data from these cell phones.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA was interrogated for about 10 hours on March 20 during her second session of interrogation, during which she was asked about Hyderabad-based businessman Arun Pillai and a limited amount of supporting documentation.

Kavitha had previously declined to participate in the investigation at the ED office but was prepared to respond via emails and in her house. She later had a change of heart and joined the investigation.

Arun Pillai, a representative of the South Group, is said to have approached her at her initial appearance. The South Group is accused of giving AAP leaders payments of Rs 100 crore, which they allegedly used to influence the Goa Assembly elections. Pillai has reportedly said that he was Kavitha's associate. On Wednesday, the agency recorded the statement of Buchchi Babu, the BRS MLC's Ex- auditor and also a member of the South Group.

Kavitha has insisted she has never seen Manish Sisodia, the former deputy chief minister of Delhi who has been detained by the CBI and ED in connection with the case, and she feels unnecessarily implicated in the issue. Kavitha is reportedly one of the representatives of South Group in the excise policy case, according to the ED.
