NEW DELHI:  The Air Quality Index having been improved in the national capital -  slightly to "very poor" category on Monday, the Delhi government is probably to review the ban imposed under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) restrictions.

The city's overall air quality index (AQI) decreased further from 326 in the "extremely bad" category this morning, as per the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR).

The amount of PM 2.5 and PM 10 in the air was measured at 326 and 205, respectively, under the "extremely poor" and "poor" categories.

Nevertheless, on Sunday, the National Capital Region and Delhi's GRAP-4 limitations were lifted by the central committee on air quality management. As the air index quality on Sunday showed a modest improvement, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Sunday evening lifted the GRAP-4 restrictions from Delhi and the National Capital Region.
The CAQM decided to lift the limits imposed under the GRAP 4 measures in a meeting held on Sunday, but Delhi-NCR will still be subject to the third phase of GRAP's restrictions.

In response to GRAP limitations, however, Delhi's environment minister, Gopal Rai, has also scheduled a meeting today to evaluate the city's current prohibition.

Following the implementation of GRAP IV, Delhi Government on Friday prohibited the entry of trucks other than those providing critical services in the nation's capital. A 6-member committee has also been established by the government to oversee truck access into the nation's capital.
