New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday sent a notice to yoga guru Swami Ramdev for his remarks on allopathy. Swami Ramdev had criticized the doctors for the way corona cases were treated. The high court has sent a notice to Ramdev for "spreading misinformation" against allopathy and allopathic doctors. The matter is likely to come up for hearing on August 10.

However, Baba Ramdev withdrew his statement after the video clip of the comment went viral on social media. In the video, he was heard questioning some of the drugs being used to treat coronavirus infection, saying "millions of people have died after taking allopathic medicines for corona". The remarks were strongly opposed by the doctors' organizations, after which the then Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan had asked him to withdraw the statement terming it "very unfortunate".

The Indian Medical Association had served a defamation notice to Swami Ramdev for his alleged remarks against allopathy and allopathic doctors, demanding an apology from him within 15 days, failing which he said he would seek compensation of Rs 1,000 crore from Yoga.
