Lucknow: The petition of former MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, convicted in the death of the father of the victim in the Unnao rape case, was heard on Friday. The Delhi High Court has now sent a notice to the CBI, in this case, asking them to respond. The order of the trial court was challenged by Kuldeep Sengar.
It is noteworthy that in this case a total of seven convicts including Kuldeep Singh Sengar were imprisoned for ten years. The court also imposed a fine of ten lakh rupees. Now hearing of this case is going to be held on November 10 in Delhi High Court. Kuldeep Sengar's membership of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly was cancelled on February 25 after his name in the Unnao rape case. In April 2018, the victim's father died in police custody. After this, in March this year, the court convicted Kuldeep Sengar, his brother and five others and sentenced them.
Some time ago, the CBI investigating this case had taken a big action. The CBI had blamed the then top officials of the district in this case. The CBI held IAS Aditi Singh, IPS Pushpanjali Singh and Neha Pandey guilty of negligence in the case, and recommended departmental action.
