New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday refused to hear a petition against conversion, stating that religion is a matter of personal faith and whether or not to adopt another religion is a personal decision. A bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice C Harishankar has asked the petitioner by profession to withdraw the petition as the court does not want to dismiss it. The court said, 'Why don't you take it back? Why should we dismiss it? '

After this, the petitioner and BJP leader Ashwani Kumar Upadhyay has sought permission to withdraw the petition and the bench has given them permission to do so. When the petition came up for hearing, the court said that following one religion is a matter of personal faith and whether or not to adopt another religion is a personal decision. The court said, 'Tell us how we can stop it? If someone is threatening or intimidating someone, then it is a crime under the Indian Penal Code. The court said that due to threat or inducement of a person, there is no reason to be a victim of conversion.

Let us tell you that Upadhyay had said in his petition that many individuals, NGOs and institutions have been demeaned, especially the SC / ST community by 'intimidating, threatening, greed for money or miracles, black magic and other gimmicks They adopt and convert their religion.
