New Delhi: Delhi's Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena has given permission to prosecute former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student leader Shehla Rashid in a case related to her remarks on security forces. Delhi-based lawyer Alakh Alok Srivastava had filed a complaint against Shehla. He had told in his complaint that Shehla Rashid, a resident of Kashmir, had made two tweets about the Indian Army. In a tweet, Shehla Rashid said, 'Armed forces are entering houses at night, picking up boys, ransacking houses, deliberately dropping rations on the floor, mixing oil with rice.'

According to the complaint, in another tweet, Shehla had said, '4 people were called to the army camp in Shopian and 'interrogated' (tortured). A mike was placed near them so that the entire area could hear their screams and be horrified. This created an atmosphere of panic in the entire area.' It was told in the complaint that by spreading such unverified and false news, anti-social elements and organizations work to incite people against the army and the country. After this, advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava lodged an FIR complaining about all the tweets of Shehla Rashid and the denial of the Indian Army.

Commenting on the matter, the Home Department of the Government of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi said, 'Making false allegations against the army is a serious issue. Action should not be taken on every tweet under criminal law, but in this case, this type of tweet should be seen as an attempt to spread religious unrest in Jammu and Kashmir.'

Let us tell you that, former JNU student leader Shehla Rashid, who is often in controversies due to her controversial statements, has been accused by her father Abdul Rashid Shora of being a traitor and putting his life in danger. Shehla Rashid's father had made serious allegations against his daughter while writing a letter to the DGP of Jammu and Kashmir.
