New Delhi: Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Tuesday made every effort to control air pollution in the country's capital Delhi, inspected fireworks shops on the new road. Gopal Rai said that as per the directive of the Supreme Court, all the polluting firecrackers in Delhi have been banned. Only the sale of green firecrackers is allowed in Delhi.
The Environment Minister further said that the Delhi Government has ordered all District Magistrates and Delhi Police to ensure that only green crackers are prepared in Delhi, stored and sold through licensed traders. Gopal Rai said that people can leave firecrackers on festivals like Deepawali and Guru Parva only between eight and ten o'clock at night. On the eve of Christmas and New Year, the time of firecrackers will be from 11:55 am to 12:30 pm.
According to an order issued by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), only licensed traders can sell firecrackers as per the standards set by PESO. An e-commerce website cannot take an online order. Gopal Rai said that the Delhi government has directed all the District Magistrates and Deputy Commissioners of Police to follow orders and present the daily action report to the DPCC.
