New Delhi: The air quality index for all NCR cities, including Delhi, went above 300 on Thursday despite the grep being implemented to keep the air clean in Delhi-NCR. Greater Noida has become the second most polluted city in the country. The air quality level was recorded at 357, which was also at 400 a day. Meerut's QI 359, the third number with 335 QI, muzaffarnagar with Faridabad and 332 has come to the fourth position.
According to CPCB, Delhi's air from smoke, apart from local pollutants, reached a very bad level. The air quality index in the capital has been recorded at 312. For the first time this season, 6 per cent of pollutants were smoke. Safar estimates that the surface wind is stable with the temperature falling in Delhi-NCR.
The wind direction that reached Delhi on Thursday was the same. This has also increased the part of paroli smoke in Delhi-NCR. The air quality is not likely to improve for the next two days. On Saturday, the speed of the evening wind can see a slight improvement in the pollution level. After which it will remain on the borderline of bad and very bad.
'Red Light On, Gaadi Off' campaign launched: CM Arvind Kejriwal has launched a new campaign to curb pollution on Thursday. Under which an appeal has been made to the dilliers to keep their car closed on the red light. Which may also reduce the pollution level with fuel saving.
Launching the 'Red Light On, Gaadi Off' campaign, Kejriwal said that if 10 lakh vehicles could be shut down daily on traffic signals, the Prime Minister-10 would be emitted about 1.5 tonnes a year and PM2.5 about 0.4 tonnes less. On an average, 15 to 20 minutes a day, a train stops at the red signal. It has been revealed that about 200 ml of oil is consumed. A saving of Rs. 7000 in a year can also be made on keeping the train closed. He appealed that we resolve to keep our vehicles closed on all red signals, every single person's effort will contribute to reducing pollution.
