After passing from the Parliament of India, there has been continuous opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The police have filed a charge sheet against the CAA in the Jamia and New Friends Colony violence on December 15. The charge sheet also includes the name of Jamia's student, Sharjeel Imam, arrested on charges of sedition. The police have not filed the name of any other student in the charge sheet other than Sharjeel.

This charge sheet has been filed on 13 February. The charge sheet states that the Sharjil Imam instigated the crowd. The police charge sheet also mentions the banned organization PFI. Police have said that the role of PFI in this violence is also being investigated.

According to the Delhi Police on this matter, 8 people have been arrested in the Jamia violence case while 9 people have been arrested in the violence case in New Friends Colony. Altogether 17 accused have been arrested in the violence case. All of these accused are local. Empty cartridges of pistols found during the investigation are also mentioned in the charge sheet.
