New Delhi: Special court of Delhi has extended the period of judicial custody of businessman Ratul Puri. The special court has extended the judicial custody of Puri, arrested in the case of Moser Baer, till 17 October. Earlier, the court extended his judicial custody till October 3. Ratul Puri is in judicial custody in a bank fraud case. Apart from this, he is also in judicial custody in the AgustaWestland case.
On August 17, the CBI registered a case against businessmen Ratul Puri, Deepak Puri and Neeta Puri on a complaint from the Central Bank of India. It is alleged that he took a loan of Rs 354 crore by tampering with papers. After CBI, ED also filed a case. After this, Ratul Puri was arrested on 20 August. Ratul Puri's name was revealed during the interrogation of Dubai-based businessman Rajiv Saxena and a middleman in the money laundering case involving the Rs 3600-crore August Westland case.
After this, the ED started clamping down on him. For information, let us tell you that Ratul Puri is the nephew of CM Kamal Nath of Madhya Pradesh. In February 2010, the Congress-led UPA government signed a VVIP chopper purchase deal with British-Italian company AgustaWestland. Under this, 12 helicopters were to be procured. The case caught a lot of momentum in the UPA regime.
