New Delhi: The Tis Hazari court in the national capital has granted relief to Jugraj Singh, the main accused in hoisting the saffron flag by climbing the ramparts of the Red Fort during a tractor rally on January 26. The court stayed Jugraj Singh's arrest till July 20. However, the accused Jugraj has been asked to cooperate in every police investigation.
Special Judge Nilofer Abida Praveen has ordered Jugraj Singh to cooperate on July 8, 11, and 15 or whenever the investigating officer in the case calls him. On January 26, during a tractor rally, a young man was seen climbing the ramparts of the Red Fort and hoisting a religious flag, later identified as Jugraj. Jugraj is a resident of Tarantaran in Punjab. He does the job of hoisting the flag by climbing the domes and pillars of the village gurudwara. Fearing arrest, Jugraj had filed an interim bail plea in the Tis Hazari court, which the court granted and stayed Jugraj's arrest till further hearing in the case, the next hearing in the case will be held on July 20.
Earlier on Monday, a Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested a man named Gurjot Singh from Punjab in connection with the installation of a religious flag at the Red Fort. Special Cell Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Kumar Yadav had said, "Singh was arrested from Amritsar in Punjab. A reward of Rs 1 lakh was announced for his arrest."
