New Delhi: The integration of all the municipal corporations of the country's capital Delhi has taken place on May 22, 2022. With this, the term of the councillors also ended. But even after two months of this, the councillors have not returned the laptops of the municipal corporation. Municipal officials said that the councillors of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation returned the laptops, but around 37 councillors from the North and East have not yet done so. Sources have informed that the price of one laptop is Rs 33,649.

At the same time, out of the total 13 councillors of East MCD, 8 from BJP and 5 councillors of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have not returned the laptop. At the same time, Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit president Adesh Gupta has asked the councillors to return the laptops. In fact, even after completing the tenure of 5 years, the councillors were given laptops on behalf of the corporation in 2007 itself during their tenure. This sequence continued even after the corporation was divided into 3 parts in 2012.

On July 8, a delimitation committee of 250 wards of the Unified Municipal Corporation has been formed in Delhi. Now within four months, the committee will submit its report to the Home Ministry, then the corporation will be elected. For the last 15 years, there was a BJP government in the corporation and the AAP was the main opposition party.
