Delhi doctors have not received salary since April, HC orders Kejriwal government to deposit funds

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has issued a directive to the Delhi government to give Rs 8 crores to the North MCD within 15 days in case of non-payment of salaries to the doctors of 6 hospitals of North MCD, Delhi. Salary up to May has been given to doctors of 6 hospitals of North MCD including North MCD's Bada Hindu Rao Hospital, Kasturba Hospital.

In April, the doctors working in MCD hospitals had said that they would go on strike if they would not get salary. After this, the Delhi High Court took Suo Moto cognizance of this entire matter and sought answers from the MCD and the Delhi Government. During the hearing in June, the court gave instructions to pay salaries to doctors from April to May. On the court's order, the Kejriwal government transferred funds to the North MCD.

During the hearing on Wednesday, the MCD told the court that the funds given by the Delhi government have not been received. On this, the Delhi government has instructed the MCD to give Utilization Certificate. This certificate shows that in which items MCD has spent the funds given by the Delhi government. The Delhi government has also said that without waiting for the Utilization Certificate, Delhi Government should give Rs 8 crore to the North MCD for the doctors within 15 days.
