The state government has directed the transport department to register cases in the absence of any document related to the transport vehicle. Although the permits, registrations and licenses of transport vehicles due to Kovid expire in February, it is known that the Central Government has directed during the lockdown to be valid till December this year. The Center has made changes in the software of the Department of Transport as per the directions and facilitated the registration of cases to that extent. As the deadline expires this year, the Department of Transportation has instructed lower-level officials to strictly enforce road safety regulations from the beginning of next year. With this, the authorities are getting ready to intensify the checks at the check posts. The Center has enacted the Motor Vehicle Act for traffic violations since September last year. Following this, the state government has decided to strictly enforce Sections 177 to 199 of the Motor Vehicle Act, increasing the fines drastically this year. To this extent, traffic violations will be on the rise in the new year with a focus on road safety.

If the transport vehicle does not have a permit and drives without paying taxes, a fine of 200 per cent will be levied. The Department of Transportation will also focus on international permits. The Department of Transport recently reported to the Supreme Court Road Safety Committee that it will conduct full inspections of transport vehicles from next year.

The Department of Transportation told the Supreme Court Road Safety Committee that several services were rendered during the lockdown. One lakh sanitizer kits were distributed to the drivers. According to CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the Road Safety Committee was instrumental in evacuating 96,700 migrant workers through 3,252 RTC buses to various parts of the state and other states. It has set up 118 food and relief centers on every 20 km along national highways to cater to migrant workers. It was instrumental in setting up 69 labor trains and relocated 1,07,338 workers to neighboring states. As many as 15,000 laborers on foot were sent home in 464 RTC buses.
