Dehradun: A cloudburst occurred near the Indo-Nepal border in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, at around 1 am last night. There is a possibility of a major untoward incident in this disaster. Pithoragarh District Magistrate has informed the media that about 30 houses have been damaged in the cloudburst, while a woman has lost her life. According to the information, the cloudburst caused the most devastation in Khotila village of Dharchula.

Water entered houses in Gwal village and Dharchula Malli Bazar. The Kali river is flowing above the danger mark due to the cloudburst. It is being told that many houses have collapsed. At the same time, rescue operations have also been started to evacuate people to safer places. A cloudburst hit the Moolgarh area of Tehri in Uttarakhand on August 24. Due to this, the Rishikesh Gangotri highway was closed due to debris and boulders near Narendranagar. However, no loss of life was reported due to cloudburst at that time. The highway could be opened four days later. The fields were severely damaged due to the cloudburst.  

On August 20, a cloudburst hit the Raipur block of Dehradun district in Uttarakhand. Sarkhet village was the worst hit by this disaster. All those trapped in the village were rescued safely. Heavy rains near Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple had led to a flood-like situation. The bridge over Maldevta was also washed away. In many places, roads were broken and water entered houses.
