UP polls: Several secrets revealed in IT raid at SP leader's house

New Delhi: The Income Tax Department had recently conducted raids on hideouts related to Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders. It has detected illegal property worth Rs 68 crore. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) under the Revenue Department of the Union Finance Ministry has informed that red slay was carried out on December 18, 2021, in Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh at the locations of people belonging to construction and real estate. The whereabouts of an entry operator from Kolkata were also checked during this period.

Raids were conducted in UP capital Lucknow, Bengal's capital Kolkata and Karnataka's capital Bengaluru as well as districts like Mainpuri and Mau. The Income Tax Department also raided some locations in the National Capital Region. A large number of digital and hard copy documents were recovered during this period which will serve as evidence. Analysis of data has revealed that these people were showing fake expenses worth crores of rupees through their business.

Bank bill books, signed chequebooks, stamps and bogus supplies have been seized. In one case, the secret income of the directors of the company amounting to Rs 86 crore was exposed. One of them, accepting his secret income of Rs 68 crore, also offered to pay tax on it. He could not give any answer in favour of how the turnover of the company went down to Rs 150 crore in the last few years. Many other fake companies were used to hide income and investments.
