Former PM Deve Gowda Supports Bharat Ratna Award for Charan Singh, Narasimha Rao, and Swaminathan

Bangalore: Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) veteran, Deve Gowda, expressed his support for the central government's decision to award Bharat Ratna to Chaudhary Charan Singh, PV Narasimha Rao, and MS Swaminathan. He urged those questioning the move to refrain from opposing the decision, emphasizing unity on this significant matter. Addressing the Rajya Sabha during the final session of the ongoing Budget session of Parliament, Gowda commended the government's decision and stressed the importance of not dissenting on such crucial issues.

Regarding the discussion on the Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha in the Upper House, the JDS veteran shared his personal experience of attending the event on January 22. He highlighted the significance of Lord Rama in Indian culture, emphasizing his role in unifying the nation and laying the foundation for its values. Gowda expressed his joy and devotion towards the consecration of the Lord Rama temple in Ayodhya, considering it a momentous occasion for millions of Indians. He praised Lord Rama as a symbol of righteousness, love, and graciousness, highlighting Mahatma Gandhi's admiration for him and his role in fostering national unity.

Additionally, Gowda extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his dedication and sincerity in performing the 11-day fasting rituals leading up to the Ram Lalla Pran Pratistha day. He expressed hope that the Lord Rama temple in Ayodhya would become a symbol not only for India but for the entire world. The ongoing Budget session, which was initially scheduled to conclude on February 9, has been extended by a day. This session marks the final gathering of the current Lok Sabha before the upcoming general elections, expected to be held in April-May this year.
