Mumbai: Indian Railways is running a special train to send migrant workers stranded in other states to their homes on approval of the state governments amid the third phase of the lockdown implemented till May 17 in the country. Even in Maharashtra, a large number of workers from other states are stranded. Meanwhile, former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has taken up the case of migrant workers.

He has also appealed to West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee in this regard. BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said on Sunday that permission was sought from the West Bengal government to run 7 trains to send stranded workers from Mumbai to West Bengal, but not even 1 train has been approved so far. Fadnavis said, 'I urge Mamta Didi to give her permission in this regard as soon as possible.'

Let us tell you that Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday accused the West Bengal government that it is not allowing stranded migrant workers to take them to their homes by trains. However, the state government denied the charge, saying that 6,000 migrants have already returned and 10 trains with other laborers will arrive soon.
