IPL2023: The four-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) roared back at its stronghold on Monday by defeating the high-flying Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 12 runs. This came after a five-wicket setback in the IPL 2023 opener against the defending champion Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. Batting first, CSK amassed 217/7 thanks to a combined batting performance that included Ruturaj Gaikwad's ferocious 31-ball 57 and Devon Conway's 29-ball 47. After that, they held LSG to 205/7; nevertheless, if it weren't for their 13 wides and five no-balls, the winning margin would have been greater.

This wasn't the first time in IPL 2023 that CSK, who are renowned for their bowling discipline, struggled. With six wides and two no-balls, they gave up 12 additional runs to the Titans. Thus, when asked about his opinion of their bowling unit during a talk with Murali Kartik at the post-match presentation ceremony, Dhoni did not hold back. Even with a smirk on his face, the 41-year-old said that if they keep bowling like this, they might get a new captain.

"We need to slightly improve our fast bowling. You must bowl based on the circumstances. It's crucial to pay attention to what the opposing bowlers are doing. Another requirement is that they bowl no no-balls or extra wides; otherwise, they will be forced to play with a new captain. During the post-game presentation, which was broadcast by the IPL on social media, Dhoni declared, "It will be my second warning and then I'll be off."
