New Jersey: Shri Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles, urged the Indian Diaspora on Monday to contribute and help form the New India, a nation that would spur global progress and is destined to become a Vishwaguru. He was addressing the Indian community at an event in New Jersey, US.
The minister praised the Indian Diaspora for their exceptional contributions made abroad, saying they were carrying the India story forward. He said it is a source of pride that Indians have helped run huge corporations and contributed to the economic prosperity of numerous nations through India's rich traditions and culture. He emphasised that because to the accomplishments of the Indian Diaspora, India is really appreciated and known throughout the world. He further emphasised that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is the most well-liked and tallest leader in the world today, and that people look up to him. Speaking about the G20 meeting that took place in Bali, Indonesia, Shri Goyal said that PM Modi's leadership and efforts during the Leader's summit were what drew all the leaders together and helped them reach an agreement on a joint declaration.
Expressing his happiness at celebrating Pravasi Bhartiya Divas  with the Indians residing in New Jersey, Goyal said that PBD, that was started by the Ex-Prime Minister of India Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, is a occasion to celebrate all Pravasis and recognize their contribution. He was grateful to the Indians living in America for upholding and preserving Indian tradition, culture, and values. He continued by saying that Indians regard Indians living abroad as ambassadors for their country.
Appreciating that over 90 of the 1078 founders of the roughly 500 unicorns in the United States are people of Indian descent, Goyal said that the Indian diaspora has amply proven its tremendous capacity through its work in a variety of fields, including management, hospitality, journalism, technology, and healthcare. Shri Goyal quoted Atal ji as saying, "Success of every category of our immigrants throughout the world testifies the indomitable spirit carried from the Indian soil," and claimed that PDB celebrates the spirit of service embodied by the Indian community.
Goyal said, transformational reforms that India underwent over the past several years have elevated India to the fifth-largest economy in the world, quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi as saying that "simply incremental growth is not enough, now a metamorphosis is needed." He expressed optimism that India will have the third-largest economy in a few years.
The Minister said, both the US and India are thriving democracies with close relationships to one another, shared geopolitical interests, and a keen interest in business and the prosperity of both nations. Â Goyal said, the diaspora will continue to serve as a physical link between India and the USA.
Speaking about Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav that is being organised to celebrate 75 years of India's independence, Goyal praised the enormous success of the Har Ghar Tiranga drive across the length and breadth of the nation, noting that every single home, shop, and office had a Tiranga flown, illustrating India's unity in diversity. In his Independence Day address to the nation the previous year, Prime Minister Modi made reference to the five Prans. He said, these Prans represent the aspirations of 1.4 billion Indians who want to see India become a developed and successful country by the year 2047. He exhorted everyone to strive to make these Prans a priority in their lives and join India on its quest to evolve into a developed country within the next 25 years.
He said, during the covid-19 pandemic, India confronted every obstacle head-on with tenacity and drive and turned them into possibilities. India currently has six locally made COVID vaccinations and a developed healthcare system. India quickly recovered as well following the blockade. He added that India had a remarkable year in terms of growth, FDI, and exports last year. He added that over the past 2.5 years, the government has continued to give food to 800 million less fortunate Indians, ensuring that no Indian goes to bed hungry.
Goyal emphasized that India is currently a place of opportunity and expressed faith in the Diaspora’s ability to continue helping India become a powerful nation. India presents enormous prospects because of its high domestic demand, democracy, rule of law, and open economy. The world may be your trusted partner in supply chains, financial portfolios, and business, he urged everyone to convey.
