Bhopal: Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh has been badly surrounded for seeking proof of the surgical strike. On the one hand, while the Congress party has dismissed it as his personal statement, on the other hand, the BJP has got an opportunity to be aggressive. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who hails from Madhya Pradesh, has termed it an insult to Mother India and an anti-national mentality. Scindia, who was once an associate of Digvijay Singh in the Congress, has also reminded that he had once used 'Ji' for terrorist Osama.

Jyotiraditya Scindia tweeted, ''Terrorist Osama bin Laden is Osama ji; sharing the stage with Zakir Naik; constant disrespect for 'Maa Shakti' through his speeches; Digvijay ji added one more to his list of anti-national activities today.'' In another tweet, he wrote, "Due to the efforts, devotion, and sacrifice of the Indian Army, today you and the whole country are safe. You insulted Mother India by questioning these brave soldiers. Is this not proof of an anti-national mindset?"

Digvijaya Singh, who was accompanying Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra on Monday, made controversial remarks about the Pulwama attack and surgical strikes in Jammu. Subsequently, the party retracted his statement. Senior party leader Jairam Ramesh, who is in-charge of the communication department, tweeted, "The views expressed by senior leader Digvijaya Singh today are not of the Congress party, but his personal views. Before 2014, the UPA government had also carried out surgical strikes. Congress has supported all military actions in the national interest and will continue to support them.'' Earlier in the day, when Digvijaya Singh was talking to a television channel on the issue, Jairam Ramesh came in the middle and removed the former chief minister from the mic. The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister, who has often wooed controversy with his remarks, alleged that to date no report has been placed before Parliament on Pulwama. He claimed that the surgical strike was carried out, but did not show evidence. They (BJP) only spread lies. Digvijaya Singh alleged that this government wants to keep the Kashmir problem alive so that films like Kashmir Files can be made for votes and to spread hatred in the country. Have you ever seen a PM promoting a film? But Prime Minister Modi went to publicize the Kashmir files.
