Kolkata: Senior party leader Dilip Ghosh made a statement on the BJP's defeat in the bypolls in West Bengal saying that our candidates never get cars, mikes or accommodation during the bypoll voting, but this time the police cast unilateral votes, the police did not have a neutral stand in the voting. We had lost by-elections earlier but won general elections at the same place.

Bengal BJP president Sukant Majumdar has blamed the 'rule of terror unleashed by the TMC' for the defeat. TMC General Secretary Partha Chatterjee dismissed the allegations as baseless. The number of members of the TMC in the Assembly has now gone up to 215. The ruling Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) in the state won 4-0 by defeating its rivals by a record margin in Tuesday's counting of votes. In West Bengal, TMC has won Dinhata seat and Shantipur seat respectively in Behar and Nadia districts by a huge margin from BJP.

Now, the number of BJP members in the Bengal Assembly has come down from 77 to 75. The ruling TMC also retained Khardah and Gosaba assembly seats in North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas districts by an impressive margin. In four assembly segments, TMC got a total of 75.02 per cent votes while the BJP got 14.48 per cent votes. The margin of victory for TMC in Dinhata crossed the record of 1.64 lakh votes. BJP candidate Nishith Sathya had won the seat in this year's assembly elections.
