Woman arrested along with husband who opened 'Non-halal' restaurants in Kerala

Kochi: A woman entrepreneur who opened a non-halal restaurant in Kerala has been arrested on Tuesday (November 2, 2021) along with her husband despite protests by fundamentalists. The entire dispute reportedly took place between the two parties (in women and other shops) over keeping chaat in the shop. Later, the police came and took with them the mistress of a restaurant called Tushara Ajit, her husband and two others.

Police said another case has also been registered against Tushara. It accuses them of spreading hatred. According to Kochi police, four persons including a couple running a 'Non-Halal' restaurant have been arrested for making fake allegations. The matter has been registered under Section 153(A) of the IPC. According to media reports, Infopark Circle Inspector Santosh said the case was registered on October 24. Tushara, Ajit, Sunil and Vinup alias Appu have now been arrested in the case. All were absconding since the incident. They have been arrested on charges of attempt to murder.

After Ernakulam in Kerala, Recently, Tushara wanted to start another non-halal restaurant at Kakkand in Kochi, but according to her, she was tortured by the jihadists because her restaurant serves non-halal food and pork. Tushara said the police were against her and were helping the accused. Police denied the allegations and said there was no communal angle in the assault.
