New Delhi: Veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik, who was the hero of Team India's victory in the first T20I against the West Indies, said his real goal is to do well in the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia later this year. Karthik, doing full justice to his role as a 'finisher', scored 41 off 19 balls in the match played at the Bryan Lara Stadium, which helped India to score 190 for six while batting first.

In this score of Team India, this innings of his proved to be very important. Karthik told his BCCI TV teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, "These are the little things that we need to focus on right now. The ultimate goal is to do well in the T20 World Cup. It's a completely different kind of team and I'm enjoying it to the fullest. The captain and coach are calm and a lot of credit goes to them.''

Dinesh Karthik was awarded the Player of the Match award in the first T20 match against the West Indies on the basis of his whirlwind innings. On the basis of Karthik's innings, India was able to defeat the West Indies by 68 runs. Chasing the target of 191 runs set by India, the hosts could only manage 122 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, with Arshdeep Singh, R Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi taking 2 wickets each for Team India. Team India is scheduled to play the second T20I against the West Indies on August 1.
