These days, wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik of the Indian cricket team is out from Team India, but this 34-year-old player hopes that things will change for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia next year. Karthik while talking to the media said that "the T20 World Cup is coming and I am desperate for the Indian team to play the role of a finisher in this tournament. I am fully confident in playing this role and if we get to do a lot of total chases, then I can play this role in the middle order".
According to media reports, Karthik has been out of Team India since the World Cup. However, in the recently played Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored 418 runs at an average of 59.71. He said that as a senior player of his state, it becomes my responsibility to give the sum to the team. Dinesh Karthik is now going to captain the Tamil Nadu team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament. Players like R Ashwin, Murali Vijay, Vijay Shankar are present in this team. Despite these players being in the team, this team is not a winning candidate. Karthik said that there are very good players in our team, but we have not been able to perform in this format to the best of our ability.
Tamil Nadu had won the title of this tournament played for the first time in the year 2006-07. Tamil Nadu defeated Punjab in the final match. After this, this team never managed to make it to the finals. Dinesh Karthik said that "we probably have not performed according to our strength in this tournament and we still have to go further. I know that we are not the strongest team in this tournament, but we will try to perform well".
