Collector reached village walking 17 km on foot, villagers surprised

Dehradun: Mangesh Ghildiyal, Collector of Tehri City in Uttarakhand reached Ganga after taking a 17-kilometre walk on mountain routes. The locals were shocked to hear the news of him reaching the village on foot. He reached the village and inspected the loss caused by the disaster. The local people raised the demand for early construction of roads, bridges and school buildings damaged by the disaster.

The Collector ordered the officers of the PMGSY to open the Ghutthu-Reh-Gangi road blocked for three months. In the marginal Gangi village of Bhilangana block, there was a huge loss due to rain on 10 August. Ten houses were partially damaged due to the overflowing of Gedera sprawl in the middle of the village. Three cattle collapsed and 15 animals were buried alive.

The drinking water line, contact road were also damaged. The 20 km Ghuttu-Rih-Gangi road under construction is also damaged due to the crisis and is blocked since July. Collector Mangesh Ghildiyal and CDO Abhishek Ruhela reached Gangi village on foot. The collector also ordered officers to open the road soon. The PMGSY has started work on the road on Monday. The collector informed that compensation amount has already been given to all the families affected by the disaster. Other arrangements will be made available shortly. All necessary items will also be delivered.
