Tamil Nadu :The Cuddalore CB-CID arrested five people for the murder of a 55-year-old man, and Cuddalore MP TRVS Ramesh is absconding. The arrested persons were produced before the local court. Govindarasu (55) of the deceased belonged to Melmampattu village. He worked as a laborer in the Panikankuppam cashew processing unit owned by the DMK MP. According to the police, Govindarasu, who was returning home from work on the evening of September 19, was allegedly stopped and questioned by another employee in connection with the theft at the cashew unit. The employee allegedly accused Govindarasu of stealing cashew nuts from the processing unit.

Following this, five men and MP Ramesh allegedly assaulted Govindarasu, causing injuries to his face and neck, police said. The grievously injured Govindarasu was dropped without medical help at the Panikankuppam cashew processing unit. Police officials said Govindarasu was later found dead on the morning of September 20.

Following this, Kadampuliyur police registered a case under section 174 (unnatural death) of the Code of Criminal Procedure and started investigation. The CB-CID on Friday, October 8 from the Madras High Court, sought permission from the Lok Sabha Secretary to arrest Ramesh, the Cuddalore DMK MP. But police sources say that the MP is absconding. Ramadoss also urged the Tamil Nadu government to pay the death compensation and provide a government job to a family member of the deceased.
